Coke Quenching and Coke Service
The coke oven product – ember coke – is moved in a quenching car by a locomotive to the quenching tower where it is quenched by water and then tipped onto the coke ramp. After final quenching and cooling, coke passes through the screens, calibrators and crusher to the dispatch point.
The process of crushing, stabilization and screening is called coke service and it will ensure the required grain size and possible strength of the product to be dispatched to clients.
